Put Your Paws Up

Never did I ever think I would go to a Lady Gaga concert. I've always thought she's an awesome performer and has very catchy (and controversial) songs but I wouldn't spend so much money for her, to be honest. And it's one of those events that would easily give away your sexuality unless your posing as someone's ever supportive boyfriend.

So hear ye hear ye. The stars have aligned. 8 hours before the concert, a girl friend scored patron seats and "forced" me to go with her. She had to convince me for 30 minutes over the phone before I finally agreed. Kunwari ayaw ko pa. LOL.

And so it began.

Act 1 was very very strange for me. I didn't know any of the songs but i suppose this is the setlist for The Born This Way Ball. she made her entrance riding a black unicorn all covered with black clothing and head gear. Jeez i don't even know what that was called so I just randomly labeled it as "head gear" lol. She really appeared to be a Satanist on this one. I kid. HAHA. It was all kind of creepy and haunting and scary.

The sound system was kinda "basag", I don't know if it was MOA's Arena's fault or if it was really meant to be that way. But I knew at that point that I would probably go home with tremendous hearing loss.

She then went on to sing Born This Way --- which is the global anthem of the LGBT community. I wonder what the 22-man team appointed by the city government to observe thought of Lady Gaga coming out of a giant vagina for the intro of BTW. Although it looked like a roasted chicken or turkey, hmm... Hard to tell. LOL. Oh by the way, at this point, may I award Best in Santol to all the male dancers. They were wearing nothing but tight underwear. I had my eyes particularly glued on Mark Kanemura. He was that guy in So You Think You Can Dance who did the epic Bleeding Love perf.  Kahit wala na si Lady Gaga, pwede na. Bawing bawi na. HAHAHA.

Skip skip skip. More unfamiliar could-be-blasphemous-if-taken-literally songs.

Bad Romance, as much as I would like to really sing along and put my paws up, I couldn't. I had to act like I was not interested at all. I know, I know. Ka-level ko ang hypocrisy of some people. haha. Whatevs. Gaga was then grabbed and dragged by two men and took her to the top of the castle or church or whatever the set was called and sang the infamous Judas Juda-ah-as. I think it was before this that she said "I am not a creature of your government, Manila". Everyone screamed in agreement. Such a badass. I don't know which part was it when she said, "I don't give a fuck" and asked the audience, "Do you give a fuck?" I soooo wanted to scream, "NO!" but, again, I couldn't. lol.

Act 2 was my most favorite part because these are the songs that I really really like. Just Dance, Love Game, Telephone. I find her weird these days, too eccentric for my taste. Too arts-y, too bold. Although, I still have mad respect for her as an artist. Anyway, of all the songs tonight, pinakamaraming sumabay sa Telephone? I may be wrong though.

Act 3 I'm not familiar with most songs except for You and I and Hair. She got really emotional while singing Hair. She knew all about the protest and said it does not bother her but said someone has to stand up for who they are or something like that. I know I missed some things in between those lines but this moment was really touching.

Act 4 she sang Alejandro, Americano, Poker Face and Paparazzi. She had this meat costume again. Hello PETA. Alejandro and the mahiwagang bukol ni Mark Kanemura punyeta nakaka-distract. And I think she had gun-boobs for Paparazzi which I expected to shoot but it didn't. bummer.

END!

(Why didn't she sing Boys Boys Boys? So sad.)

Encore was Edge of Glory and Marry the Night.

I must say, Lady Gaga is such a passionate artist and there's really hard work in all of the songs that she put out. Some pinoy acts are bothered by these international acts who perform in the country saying they take away a lot from OPM artists but I hope they realize how much passion these artists have unlike some pinoy singers na kanta lang for the sake na kumanta. Puro revivals pa. I sincerely hope that we'll get to have that kind of passion with our local mainstream artists too.
And for those protesting, I have good news for you! I did not turn into a devil or a monster or an atheist. It was just a concert I enjoyed watching. Let us please put our efforts to more pressing issues rather than this.

Huling Sayaw

Ito na ang ating huling sandali
Di na tayo magkakamali
Kasi wala nang bukas, sulitin natin ito na ang wakas
Kailangan na yata nating umuwi

Hawakan mo aking kamay
Bago tayo maghiwalay
Lahat lahat ibibigay, lahat lahat

Paalam sa ating huling sayaw
May dulo pala ang langit
Kaya't sabay tayong bibitaw

Hawakan mo aking kamay
Bago tayo maghiwalay
Lahat lahat ibibigay, lahat lahat

Paalam sa ating huling sayaw
May dulo pala ang langit
Kaya't sabay tayong bibitaw
Sa ating huling sayaw

Paalam sa ating huling sayaw (paalam na sa ating... huling sayaw)
May dulo pala ang langit
Kaya't sabay tayong bibitaw
Sa ating huling sayaw

Paalam sa ating huling sayaw
May dulo pala ang langit
Kaya't sabay tayong bibitaw
Sa ating huling sayaw
